Nick Laskin

Nick Laskin is a writer, editor, and Content Strategist at PaymentCloud. He has extensive experience with long-form content management, engaging users via compelling human storytelling, and utilizing strategic email campaigns to help raise funds and awareness for higher education institutions.

His background involves connecting with luminaries from illustrious art and design schools, conducting meaningful research and first-person interviews, and crafting dynamic content to enhance the profiles of individuals and institutions. Nick harbors a passion for creative expression in all its forms, though the written word is his specialty.

Born in Studio City, Nick has lived all over Los Angeles and proudly calls the San Fernando Valley home. He is passionate about cinema history and has written screenplays, film critiques, academic journalism, and more. You can usually find him searching for treasures at used record stores, reading voraciously, or enjoying time with his wife and two cats.

Nick got his start working professionally under the tutelage of Gasper Patrico at Intersection Studios. His first major client was ArtCenter College of Design, where he was fortunate to interview accomplished graduates such as Diana Thater, Ron Galella, Zack Snyder, Mike Shinoda, Silvia Fuentes, and many others. Nick has helped ArtCenter generate substantial fundraising revenue over seven-plus years through his efforts. Since taking leave of this position, Nick has helped launch successful philanthropic email campaigns for Bennington College and Laguna College of Art + Design.

Nick obtained his Bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Santa Cruz, where he majored in English Literature with an emphasis in Creative Writing. He later obtained an MFA in Writing and Film History from Stephens College. He has ample experience in the copywriting sector, mostly in the CBD and athletic apparel fields (his primary clients during this time were CBDFx and Marketingism). He also has bylines in a number of film publications, including Indiewire, The Playlist, Little White Lies, AFI Magazine, and TCM’s “Noir City” magazine.
