The Ingenico Desk 3500 is primarily a wired terminal, one that’s typically used in retail environments via fixed checkout points. The terminal directly connects to point-of-sale systems via USB, Ethernet, or WiFi network. However, the Desk 3500 does offer certain wireless options dependent on the particular model and configuration.

  1. For Optional Wireless Connectivity
  • Certain variants of the Ingenico Desk 3500 may offer wireless connectivity options, such as Bluetooth or WiFi.
  • These wireless options allow the terminal to connect to certain networks. They also afford mobile devices a higher degree of flexibility in terms of deployment.
  • For Primary Connectivity
  • The Ingenico Desk 3500’s standard configuration includes USB and Ethernet ports for a stable wired connection.
  • These options are often used in scenarios where the merchant prefers a fixed connection to a point-of-sale system or related network infrastructure.

The Ingenico Desk 3500 was initially announced as End Of Life in July of 2022. The device’s End of Life status officially took effect in June 2023. March 31st, 2023, served as the last date that customers could officially purchase the terminal through Ingenico, while June 30th of that same year was effectively the last possible ship date for the product. June 30th, 2026, serves as the final date that Ingenico customers can receive full support for their Desk 3500.

Products certified in version 2.6 were replaced by the Desk 3500’s EMV C’less L1 version 3.x in 2023.

The Desk 3500 and Desk 5000 are both Ingenico payment tools that essentially serve the same function, albeit in different ways. The Desk 5000 also features a video accelerator and optional stylus kit, neither of which are offered with the Desk 3500. The Desk 3500 also has a 20-key keypad, whereas the Desk 5000 offers users a keypad with 16 keys. Both terminals work in accordance with Ingenico’s suite of services.
