The default password is 9416557. The default supervisor password is 1166832, 1668321, 1686321, or 1111111.
To adjust the volume, access System Mode. If an application is running, enter System Mode by simultaneously pressing 1+5+9. The terminal will boot directly to System Mode if no application is running. Navigate to the Users menu and select Supervisor. Enter the password when prompted. From the Main Menu, go to Diagnostics and select Buzzer/Audio. Ensure both Internal Speaker and headphones are set to “ON” if they are currently “OFF” by tapping the respective buttons. Return to the Main Menu, choose Administration, then Sound Utilities, and select Change Volume. Adjust the volume by tapping the slider or sliding your finger right to increase or left to decrease. To exit System Mode, tap the arrows in the upper left-hand corner.
You must enter System Mode to configure a Verifone M400 IP address. If an application is already loaded and running, enter System Mode by pressing 1+5+9 simultaneously. The terminal will boot up to System Mode if no application is loaded. At the Users menu, choose Supervisor. Enter the password. At the Main Menu, select Administration. Tap Communications. Select Ethernet, then tap eth0. Enter the IP address, then tap the green button.
On the terminal screen, select Configure network, then choose Wi-Fi. Activate the Wi-Fi by flipping the switch to “ON.” To include a new network, tap the + icon. The terminal will scan for available Wi-Fi networks. Choose your desired network and input the Wi-Fi password, or select “Add manually” to enter the Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password. Confirm by tapping the check mark. The terminal will configure and connect to the network automatically. A Wi-Fi icon will appear at the top of the display to indicate a successful connection.
Unscrew the cover on the rear of the terminal, plug in the dongle cable, and securely fasten the cover. Connect the terminal to a power source to activate it. During the startup process, the display may briefly flicker on and off.
The Verifone M400 was first shown in a demo at the NRF Retail’s Big Show, January 14-17, 2017 in New York City. It was first made available in the U.S. and Norway in the summer of 2017.
