The PAX S920 and PAX A920 are advanced payment terminals within the PAX lineup, each tailored for specific functionalities. Although both are mobile terminals, they operate on different operating systems: the PAX S920 runs on the Linux-based Prolin OS, whereas the PAX A920 operates on Android. Additionally, the PAX A920 features a larger screen and both rear and front-facing cameras, whereas the S920 is camera-less. Both models include high-speed printers and lithium-ion batteries as standard features.
Follow these steps to connect your PAX S920 to WiFi:
There may be more than one option regarding the default password for your specific PAX S920 device. A few potential default passwords are:
The precise day and date of your WiFi installation (for example, if you were installing WiFi on your device on October 20th, 2024, your password would be 10202024).
In this context, PED is an acronym for Pin Entry Device. The PED handles sensitive cardholder data (including PIN numbers), among other functions crucial to your PAX S920. If you receive an error code indicating “PED tampered,” it suggests that your device may have been damaged or otherwise compromised. The issue could stem from something as straightforward as a depleted battery, though it is occasionally more serious. If you encounter this error code, refrain from solving the issue independently. Instead, contact PAX support or consider replacing your device.
Follow these steps to perform a factory reset on a PAX terminal. Use these passwords to access the menus where you can perform a factory reset:
Settings Password: pax9876@@
Developer Option Password (for test devices only): Dev9876@@
Before you do anything else, ensure your screen is free of liquids or other substances. Additionally, verify that any protective plastic film has been removed from the device’s surface. Remove any metallic or magnetic objects near or around the device as an added precautionary measure. If these touchscreen access issues persist, your best bet may be to seek assistance from PAX support. Alternatively, you can consult either the PAX S920 user manual or quick reference guide.
